The centre of the circle can be a focal point for many of the circle dances.  Some of the dances are fast and fun and others are slow and meditative.  Depending on the dance, the centrepiece can simply be a marker for where the centre is or, alternatively, it can have a very special focus to help centre and ground the individual dancers.
During the slow and meditative dances all eyes are on the centrepiece, and the energy is focused towards the centre.  As the group move around the circle, and towards and back from the centre, an exchange of energies can occur which can be quite powerful.
The content of the centrepiece varies according to the group and facilitator.  Some people like to have candles simply for atmosphere or to represent the element of fire.

In this picture, the elements of earth (crystals), fire (candles) and water (floating candles) are represented.

Others may have nature or mythology represented by objects like a pine cone, tree of life or some flowers or
pictures.  The month or the seasons could be represented or some items of importance to the dancing group; there are no rules regarding the marking of the centre.
The Centre
Other centrepieces may represent objects of interest to individuals - in this case my interest in working with and fashioning wood.
These pictures represent a mystical concept, the tree of life, which is a symbol used in many theologies, mythologies and philosophies.
The tree of life in Norse mythology is associated with Yggdrasil and the lore surrounding the runes.

Circle dance workshops can be tailor-made to express the intentions of the particular dancing group.
A wonderful energy can be achieved when group members are flowing and dancing together harmoniously.  Synergy may be realised through tapping into the group energy and dancing through co-ordinated movements, which facilitates healing, leaving go of stress and being inspired by one another.
